Savvy by Femme Couture - Ruby Slippers | The perfect holiday red polish

In the spirit of the holiday season (my absolute favorite time of year) I pulled out an untried polish from my stash that practically screams "Christmas!" This is an oldie I picked up at Sally Hansen on clearance ages ago, and it's called Ruby Pumps by Savvy by Femme Couture. It's part of an old holiday collection from the brand - I think from 2010 (eek!).

You can find Savvy by Femme Couture at Sally Beauty Supply.I'm actually not sure if you can get it anywhere else as that's the only place I've seen this brand. You might remember another of their polishes I sported around this same time last year.

Ruby Slippers is deep red jelly with red microglitter. In person, this polish looks much more glittery than the camera seems to show. Take a peek at the bottle in the photo above for proof of how jam-packed with glitter Ruby Slippers is.

I'm wearing two coats of Ruby Slippers and even with a generous layer of top coat, it's still pretty bumpy. I prefer a smoother glitter polish, but that's not the biggest deal. I still really love how beautiful and on-season this polish is.

Also, if anyone can tell from the photos, I'm actually wearing clear fake nails. The winter has taken a nasty toll on my poor nails and they are thin and weak and dehydrated. So I used  nails from Kiss and I'm really loving them! I trimmed them down and filed them to the shape I wanted, and I think I've found my new favorite things!

What holiday red is your favorite?

Essie - Too Too Hot

I realized as I looked through the color listing on the left side of my blog that I have only worn one red polish, and that was way back in March (my very first post, actually)! That's unusual for me - I normally love wearing reds! I'm going to blame it on the fact that I don't like sporting red with nub nails, so now that my nails are at an agreeable length - I went red! This is two coats of Essie's Too Too Hot (which I found on sale for $3.99!!!!!!), from 2011's Braziliant collection. My ring finger is sporting Claire's Glitter top coat (one of my absolute favorite top coats - holo glitter, FTW!)

I still haven't played around too much with Essie polishes, but I think so far I really like them. The application was flawless, and I probably could have used only one coat, but I did two just for good measure. I have a TON more Essie polishes in my unused pile, so stay tuned.

Since I haven't used very many... I'm curious - what's your favorite Essie color?

China Glaze - Riveting

Long have I pondered the idea of switching my Tumblr nail account over in to a new blog - mostly due to lack of customization on Tumblr. Well it turns out today I finally made the choice that I just couldn't take it anymore. S0, welcome to Glazed Over, my blog devoted to all my nail exploits and adventures - an inside look at one of my favorite hobbies and collections. So let's just get right to it, shall we?

Today I'm wearing Riveting from the new Colours From the Capitol collection by China Glaze. This is a gorgeous orange-ish red polish that is extra shimmery, which China Glaze is always good at. This collection was made for the upcoming Hunger Games release, and I have to say this color perfectly captures how I envision Katniss' flaming dress to look. They really hit the nail on the head with this one. I've got my tickets to see the movie premiere at midnight this Thursday, so I figured I should wear the most enticing polish from the collection to celebrate the release! I used two coats and topped it off with one coat of Seche Vite. Application was flawless- I couldn't be happier!

Have any of you tried these new Hunger Games polishes?
