Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks | Matte Metallics

Metallic is all the rage in the makeup world lately. Whether it be eyeshadow, eyeliner, highlighter or lipstick, it seems like there's a metallic product of some sort in every makeup line.

In that vein, new to the drugstore lipstick scene is the Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics line. There are 10 shades that are not for the faint of heart - if you're looking to add a dash of bold metallic color to your makeup routine, look no further.

Influenster graciously sent me two shades to try - Smoked Silver and Molten Bronze. Both shades are exactly what you'd expect (see images below). They're comfortable on the lips, but they're not the most natural every day colors. If your every day style is business casual, like mine, chances are you'll feel a little odd sporting these at work. And to be honest, these aren't colors I'd wear outside of work either.

There are some more wearable, every day shades in the line, such as Copper Rose and Hot Lava, which online resembles MAC's Viva Glam Rihanna lipstick that I'm obsessed with and was limited edition. If you have a darker skin tone than me, Molten Bronze may look absolutely stunning on you! Pale girls, I hate to say it, but this probably isn't for you.

Molten Bronze
Smoked Silver

The lipsticks are very pigmented, easy to build up the intensity, and they have a subtle metallic finish. I'd imagine some of the everyday shades would actually be really gorgeous and comfortable to wear on the lips, as I did like the feel of them. They're not as drying as some matte lipsticks tend to be.

Look for this line at your local drugstore or at Ulta for around $7.49 each.

What are your thoughts on the metallic trend? Is it hot or not? Let me know in the comments below.

Flowerbomb | Precious Oil

I don't think it's a secret anymore that I absolutely love the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume. You may remember, it's the scent I wore on my wedding day, and it continues to be what I wear only for special occasions like date nights or vacations. Needless to say, I was thrilled when Influenster (not familiar, click here to find out more about this awesome website that will send anyone things for FREE, in exchange for a review!) emailed to say they were sending me one of Flowerbomb's latest products - their Precious Oil.

It has to be said, like any perfume, you might love Flowerbomb as much as I do, or it might not be your cup of tea. It's a warm, floral fragrance with notes of jasmine, orchid, freesia and patchouli. It has a slight muskiness to it, which makes this perfume something I gravitate towards more in the fall and winter. If you've smelled Lancome's La Vie Est Belle or Nude by Rihanna, both are very similar scents.

The newest thing to the Flowerbomb family is the Precious Oil ($75 for 0.68 oz). This product is meant to work with the perfume to prolong the life of the Flowerbomb scent on your skin. You could, of course, just purchase the oil if you prefer just a light perfume scent. Apply the Precious Oil to pulse points, and give yourself a spritz of the perfume wherever you like and you're guaranteed to smell amazing all day long. You need so little of this oil, that even this 0.68 oz bottle will last you quite some time.

This isn't a product I'd typically purchase, but I really do enjoy using this to give me an added boost of Flowerbomb goodness. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're a fan of this perfume, or if you're in the market for a light, floral scent to add to your collection.

You can find Flowerbomb at Sephora, and most department stores.

Influenster XO Vox Box

If you aren't signed up for Influenster yet, let this post be a message loud and clear: SIGN UP! It is awesome! Everything I'm showing you I got completely for free because I share these products with you. Every couple months I get something new from Influenster and the boxes are always great. (See here, and here for some examples) Basically, you get to sample some cool products in exchange for a review. It's awesome! To sign up, just click here

Recently, I was sent the XO VoxBox. Here's what came in it:

I was excited to see a big bag of Tide Pods with Febreze! I like the convenience of pods for laundry, and even though these aren't the most natural, I'll use them since I got them for free!

Also included is the John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment. This is a lightweight, semi-permanent treatment that lasts for several washes. It's meant to penetrate each fiber of hair and amplify each strand. This is a unique item that that's totally new to me and I'm looking forward to trying it!

Next to the treatment is a set of three hair items. These are the shampoo, conditioner and sea salt spray from the John Frieda Bleach Blonde collection. I don't really know why these are labeled "beach blonde" as they don't say anything about making your hair blonder, or preserving your color. Which I guess is good because we all know I'm nowhere near being beachy or blonde. As for sea salt sprays, I have yet to meet one that does anything special for me - but I do like using them for texture when I use hot rollers in my hair.

For those of you with dry hands, you'll love Skinfix Hand Repair Cream. This lotion is unscented and highly moisturizing. It's formulated without steroids (that's a thing in lotion??!), soy or fragrance. This is advertised to be great for people with eczema, dermatitis or extreme dryness. I prefer lotion with a teensy bit of a smell, but this is a nice option.

And who doesn't love free toothpaste and a toothbrush? I'm all about free necessities. Included in this box are Colgate Optic White Express White toothpaste and the Colgate Optic White Toothbrush with built-in Whitening Pen. I've used this toothpaste before and it's just fine, and I've never tried this fancy toothbrush before.

All in all, I think this was an awesome VoxBox - probably one of the best I've received. All items will definitely get used and are things I wouldn't have picked up myself but I'm pumped to try.

Let me know if you've tried any of these products. And seriously... if you read all the way through this and STILL haven't signed up - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Awesome free stuff awaits you.

Influenster Go VoxBox

If you're not familiar with Influenster, you need to just trust my word and go sign up right now. But if you need a little more information, it's a subscription box that's completely free. By taking surveys and providing reviews on the Influenster website, you'll qualify for boxes. I receive 2-3 boxes a year and I never pay a dime!

A couple weeks ago I took a survey that qualified me for the Go Voxbox, aimed at those with an active, healthy lifestyle. The products I received are as follows:

  • Playtex Sport Fresh Balance tampons ($3.99-$4.99) - These are new from Playtex and feature Odor Shield technology, designed to neutralize odors. I have to be honest, I have no desire to use "lightly scented" tampons as I just find that to be gross.
  • The Vitamin Shoppe Next Step Fit n Full Shakes + 20 oz Jaxx Shaker Cup - These shakes are supposed to reduce body fat and hunger cravings. You mix them up in the shaker cup which has a cool Jaxx thing to keep things mixed well. I really don't like protein shakes or meal replacements so I'll probably pass the meals on, but I'll use the cup!
  • Blue Diamond Blueberry Flavored Almonds ($3.19/4 oz bag) - These almonds are loaded with Vitamin E and come in three different flavors - blueberry, raspberry and strawberry. I love eating almonds as a snack... these should be interesting to try.
  • PROFOOT Pedi-Rock ($8.99) - This pedi-rock is the first soft foot file made from silicon carbide crystals to remove even the toughest calluses. You can use it wet or dry - whichever you prefer. This is a really nice addition to this box... I'm sure I'll get use out of this!
  • Aqua Spa Bath Soak in Lavender + Chamomile ($9.99) - This bath soak smells heavenly. If you read Glazed Over regularly you already know I love a bath, so I was pleasantly surprised to receive this.
  • PROFOOT Triad Orthotic ($10.49) - This orthotic is clinically proven to relieve knee, leg and back pain when worn in your favorite shoes. I like a little extra support in my boots, so that's probably where these will go.

Influenster Violet VoxBox

I recently received a new box from Influenster and I couldn't wait to share with you! If you're unfamiliar with Influenster, it's a free website created for people who like to try things and give their opinions. That's the simplest way I can describe it. As a member of Influenster, you take surveys based on various things you enjoy such as beauty, food, wedding planning, etc. and every now and then they send you a free box with items that will undoubtedly pique your interest! Items are sent free of charge for testing purposes.  If you would like an invite to join the site, just leave your email address in the comments below!

I recently got notice that I would be receiving the Violet VoxBox, described below.

I got some really cool items in the Violet VoxBox. Take a look...

  • Goody Athletique Headband (value: $6) - I like these headbands a lot. I use them specifically to keep my hair back while I do my makeup. The packaging says it will hold back flyaways with the wide band shape, keep you cool and dry with moisture-wicking fabric, and allow two-looks in one due to two colors that can be easily reversed.

Overall, this is another awesome VoxBox from Influenster! All of these products are totally worthy of picking up to try out. Let me know if you've tried any of these - I'm curious to know what you loved or hated!

Influenster - Something Blue VoxBox

Today I've got a really cool post, thanks to a website called Influenster. What is Influenster? Basically, it's a free website that offers you a chance to review products (for free) and share your opinions with others. Or in their own words, it's "a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences." I couldn't have said it better myself!

I've received 3 or 4 VoxBoxes (as they call them) and I just received one this past weekend called the Something Blue VoxBox for soon-to-be brides, or bridal party members! Lucky for me, I was just asked to be my best friend's maid of honor this past week so this came at the absolute perfect time! The best part is, this was absolutely free to me. Here's what came in it...

To be honest, the one thing that gives me faith about this product is the Allure Beauty stamp of approval on it, otherwise my first impression was that this looks like some Seen on TV scammy toothpaste. Other than that, I was pleased by the size of this sample - it's a good 4 oz. It comes in the flavor Happy Mint, and it smells really good. I haven't used it yet so I can't vouch for any of it's whitening powers, but I will definitely use this once I run out of my current toothpaste. Considering I would never spend $7.99 for a toothpaste (unless it's absolutely amazing), I'm happy to try this out without paying for it.

Q-Tips Precision Tips | Retail: $2.59-$3.35

Who can't use some Q-Tips? I certainly can, and I can definitely use a travel pack or two to tote around with me when I travel. For the sake of this wedding-themed box they suggest using these for touching up eyeliner, precisely applying concealer, and perfecting manicures - but lets be honest, we all know we're going to use them to clean out our ears.

I'm really excited to try these out. I'm a wimp when it comes to wearing heels all day, so I'm curious to know if these provide any relief. I know on my own wedding day I wore my heels as little as possible, and switched to flip flops almost as soon as I said "I do!" The gel in these cushions are designed to absorb shock and prevent feet from sliding forward while helping to avoid "toe scrunch" (whatever that is.) I'll definitely be getting good use out of this product.

Urgent Rx Fast Powders | Retail: $1.39

This is an interesting product that I'm kind of surprised is a "new" concept - however, it's not entirely shocking. This is a powder pain killer that you take without the use of water. The packaging says it's made with Aspirin, caffeine, pain-reliever, and Adjuvant. I'm not really one to take pain killers if I can avoid it, so I most likely won't get any use from this. Also, this isn't a brand I've ever heard of, so I'm even more put off by the idea of trying it out. Interesting concept, but not sure I can see it catching on.

Kiss everEZlashes | Retail: $4.98

This was my favorite product from the box - two packs of falsies! The little insert of product descriptions says these retail for $4.98, however I saw these puppies at Walgreens yesterday for $6.99, so depending on where you get them, they can be rather pricey. The thing I like about these is that they're really natural and wispy, they're not some crazy outlandish design. I think anyone could easily pull these off without looking crazy. I've tried other brands of falsies, but this is the first time I've ever owned any by Kiss.

All in all, I think this was a really fun box to receive and nearly all of the products I'll get use out of. Influenster is worth signing up for if you're a survey junkie, or you like to leave and read reviews about all sorts of products. I happen to be all of the above. :) Let me know if you've signed up or are thinking about it - I'd love to know what you think!
