Adovia Purifying Mud Mask | Review

One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is an evening face mask. I've got a few different ones I rotate through, but I'm always looking for that miracle mask that will solve all my facial problems (Are you out there, mask?! It's me, Brianna!) When I was offered the opportunity to try Adovia's Purifying Mud Mask ($24.99, 5.1 oz), I didn't think twice because I'm still on that hunt.

According to Adovia, "Adovia's unique Purifying Mud Mask is formulated with Dead Sea Black Mud, Beeswax and a deeply moisturizing combination of Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Olive Oil. This natural mask boosts cell renewal and revitalizes your skin, while tightening your pores. As the mask dries, it gently pulls out toxins and impurities known to clog pores and cause visible signs of aging. The presence of Dead Sea mud infuses your skin with needed minerals while firming it and improving elasticity. Aloe Vera and Chamomile extracts soothe and calm your skin while vitamins A and C leave it looking fresh and renewed."

The Purifying Mud Mask is a nice greeny-brown, making me feel like I really am grabbing a hunk of mud and smothering it all over my face. It has a light consistency with little granules that are gently exfoliating as you smooth it over the skin.

If you've used mud masks before, this has that typical scent that most do - kind of clay-like and earthy - very refreshing. You need to apply just a light layer, and let it sit for 10-20 minutes while it fully dries before rinsing off.

The mask felt dry on my face rather quickly, due to the light layer I applied. I left it on for 10 minutes, and then washed it off. It felt really nice to wash off due to the exfoliating pieces, so it turned in to a bit of a scrub. After washing it off, my skin felt smooth and even. I follow up with a toner, to remove any extra dirt left on my face.

In the morning, my skin felt even and looked calm and smooth, although I'm not entirely sure I can chalk that up to this mask entirely.

I really liked this mask, however I don't think it solves all of my problems. It is certainly one of the better masks I've tried, as it actually does seem to produce nice results and feels really refreshing on the skin. Would I pay $24.99 to purchase it again? Probably not. There are other masks out there that are not as spendy and produce equal, if not better, results. If you like a mask that doubles as an exfoliating scrub as you rinse off, this just might be the one for you.

What's your favorite face mask? Let me know in the comments!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  1. This does sound like something I would enjoy trying out. I am currently using the Borghese Fango Active Mud Mask and I really like that one.

  2. Mud masks aren't completely my thing, but I have one at home (a dry powder that gets mixed with a little water, made by Sóley). My favorite masks are the fresh concoctions at Lush, especially BB Seaweed and Sacred Truth.
