Sephora Love | Roseville

Back in my interning days in college, I worked with an awesome gal named Natalie. Natalie now works for the Sephora in Rosedale Mall in Roseville, Minnesota. This used to be my local Sephora and I miss it SO much! The ladies there, especially Natalie, will take good care of you - so you know who to talk to on your next visit! Natalie and the girls there sent me some skin care goodies that I can't wait to try out, and I had to share with you! Let me know if you've given any of these products a try before!  Thank you, Natalie!!!! This is like one big awesome Sephora Birchbox!

Icing - Glimmer

I'm BACK!! I've missed blogging - but, life was rather hectic and amazing for the last couple weeks and I wasn't able to blog to my heart's desire. Almost two weeks ago, this girl got hitched! We had a perfect ceremony with our family and friends, followed by an evening of good food, good company, and lots of dancing! Here's a little taste for you...

After a fantastic honeymoon in Barbados, we are back to the real world, and I painted my nails right away! (I was wearing one of the OPI DS polishes on the wedding day/honeymoon for anyone who's curious)

But today, I painted over my acrylics with this beauty...

This is Icing - Glimmer. I bought this over a year ago, and have been waiting for the fall season to wear it. It features a beautiful light gold pearly base with gold glitter mixed in. It's a bit rough, but that may be from the acrylics and not the polish.

Glimmer is perfect for the changing season, and a fun spin on a neutral polish. You could definitely wear this in a professional setting without feeling too "loud". Sparkly neutrals like these are my favorite, and I'm so happy the fall season is here so I can break them out once again!

What autumnal polish are you wearing today?

I am a bad lacquerista...

My poor nails are a reflection of a stressful couple of weeks. They are various lengths and some of them are so short they hurt. I am showing you proof of their ugliness so you will perhaps be more accepting when I say.... I'm going to get acrylic nails tomorrow. I can't bear to look at them any longer, and they are down to ugly nubbins that even polish can't fix! My bachelorette party is this weekend and I just want them to look pretty.. so I'm caving!

Forgive me!! ;)

China Glaze - Dress Me Up

I still haven't finished testing out all of my polishes from China Glaze's Hunger Games inspired 'Colours From the Capitol' collection so I figured this weekend I would come back to them since it's been a couple weeks. This is two coats of Dress Me Up.

I could have sworn this color was more of a dusty pink, but apparently my eyes were playing tricks on me. It looks much more like a light brown, with a very subtle hint of dusty pink. Even though it's not what I expected, I really like the color. It's professional and classy, but not really in season. This will make for a great autumn polish (as will some of the others from this collection, which I might hold on to until then!).  The application was surprisingly not-so-stellar. It dried really fast and was really globby, unlike most of the China Glaze polishes I have. Once it dries it looks fine, just a bit of a pain to apply.

Was anyone else surprised this wasn't as pink as it appears in the bottle? Or am I just crazy?

China Glaze - Fast Track (and pedicure)

Today I am wearing another from the Hunger Games inspired Colours from the Capitol collection by China Glaze. This was the color I was most excited about when I first saw the line up for this collection, and even once I bought it. I love a good neutral polish, and this looks exceptionally beautiful as it's filled with small gold flake shimmer. While I do love this polish, I was disappointed with the application. It was really goopy and took a while to dry, and was even brushing off as I applied the top coat. It globbed up on the ends of my nails, and I thought for sure it would look awful once it dried - but actually, it looks pretty good despite the hell of painting it on (shocking for a China Glaze polish, in my experience).

All in all, despite the application flaws, this is a great neutral polish. It has some oomph for a neutral - definitely one you can wear in a professional setting while still showing some personality. Plus, it looks really amazing in sunlight!

On another note, my future mother in law took me and my future sister in laws out for birthday pedicures (as our birthdays fall right around the same time). I picked out a bright purple from Color Club (which I didn't happen to catch the name of, unfortunately) and got a pretty flower painted on as well. I love getting a pedicure, and I'm really happy with how this one turned out!
