Julep - Evangeline

Have I got a beauty of a fall polish for you today, or what?! Digging through my "untrieds" pile, I stumbled upon a polish I got in my Julep 2013 Cupid's Mystery Box back in February and decided it was about time I gave it a try. What you see on my nails here is Julep's Evangeline. 

This is definitely an autumnal color, so I'm not entirely sure why it was in the Valentine's box from Julep, but I could care less because this is one of my most favorite colors. Evangeline is a coppery orange that is packed to the brim with holographic goodness (another of my favorite things!) 

I'm wearing two coats, however it was entirely opaque with just one. I topped it off with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat and called it good. Julep polishes are really hit or miss for me. I've tried some I love, and others I absolutely hate, but this goes on to my love list. It's a really easy formula to apply and it's so gorgeous. My only complaint is I've already started to notice some tip-wear in under 24 hours, but this can be pretty typical of holographic polishes and it's just due to the formulation they have.

I might be wrong, but I do believe this polish was limited edition. I'm sorry for being such a tease!! However, I do know you can find it online on eBay and other sites.

Quick Look: China Glaze - Angel Wings

This is a (relatively) oldie but goodie polish, from China Glaze's 2012 Holiday collection. This holographic beauty is called Angel Wings. 

Angel Wings is my quintessential favorite polish - absolute holographic goodness; stunning in the sunlight and subdued (but still awesome) in normal lighting. It's a pretty gold holographic glitter that leans toward the green end of the gold spectrum. It reminds me of a muted Holo Yellow by Kleancolor.

I used two coats of Angel Wings followed by two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat. Beware, this polish is a MAJOR top coat hog. Even after doubling up on the top coat my nails still feel gritty instead of smooth. Not a big deal though, this is one gorgeous polish! Don't you agree?

OPI - DS Reserve

This beauty is from my favorite OPI collection of all time, the Designer Series collection. This gorgeous pink is called DS Reserve, and it's been a long time favorite polish of mine. It's a very feminine looking pink that's jam packed with holographic glitter. This is a great color for those who work in more conservative offices, but it's much more fun than your standard work-appropriate pink. 

The formula is very smooth and thin and goes on easily. I used two coats and topped it off with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat, and unfortunately it has chipped on the nail line a little bit within only two days. 

While the Designer Series OPI polishes are a bit pricey compared to other OPIs, they're well worth it. They're absolutely gorgeous in the summer, and you'll be staring at your fingers any time the light hits them! I'd highly recommend them if you don't have any in your collection.

Zoya - Aurora

Say hello to my new favorite nail polish! Long have I been lusting over Zoya's Aurora, and a couple months back I snagged it and (true to form) I let it sit in my "untrieds" pile for way too long! This color is absolutely amazing, which you might have guessed I would say, as it's jam-packed with holographic glitter - MY FAVORITE!

Aurora is a gorgeous plum color that is really out of this world. It looks like there are neverending layers of glitter on my nails. Beware, once your nails hit the sunlight - you will not be able to look away! Aurora definitely lives up to the hype, and I'm so glad I snagged a couple polishes from this line (Zoya's Ornate collection). I can't wait to try this on my toes for summer!

Color Club - Blue Heaven

Today I have a polish I've been very excited to wear since receiving it for Christmas; it's a polish from Color Club called Blue Heaven. This polish is from the Halo Hues collection (a collection entirely of holographic colors), and if you've spent any time reading my blog you know my ultimate favorite polishes are holographics!

This is two coats of Blue Heaven, topped off with OPI's Start to Finish top coat (which I am NOT a fan of, but I left my Seche Vite at home). Because of the junk top coat I used, my nails chipped rather quickly, but I can't bring myself to remove it quite yet. It's just too pretty!

The application was pretty good, although I'm curious to know if it would chip as fast even with Seche Vite as a top coat. I got two others from the collection, and I can't wait to show you if they're as pretty as this polish!

Wet n Wild - Blue Wants to be a Millionaire

This is an oldie but a total goody! I picked this up at Walgreens a couple weeks back when they had a sale. I couldn't pass up a very reasonably priced holo (my polish weakness), and I have to admit I grabbed a couple others, too. This is three coats of Wet n Wild's Blue Wants to be a Millionaire topped off with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat. This is a very sheer polish if you only use one coat, and I don't much care for polishes that show nail line, so I carefully applied three coats and I think the coverage is pretty good! Application was reasonable - I had to re-do my thumb nail a couple times because of the slow dry time and my own impatience when I have to do more than two coats, but overall it wasn't too much of a pain. 

I've been wearing this for a couple days now, and it has barely chipped, which is impressive (especially with three thick-ish coats). Blue Wants to be a Millionaire is definitely worth the $2-3 it costs. 

Lacqueristas beware - you will not be able to stop staring at your nails in the sun when you don this polish. The sparkle factor is out of control!

Wet n Wild - Lady Luck

This is an older polish that has been sitting in my unused pile for awhile and I totally regret not pulling it out earlier! This gorgeous pink is two coats of Wet n Wild's Lady Luck. It's really summery and bright (although I couldn't quite capture it's true color... it's a bit darker than it looks)! I think it would make for a fantastic pedicure color! 

I hardly needed two coats as it looked great with just one, but I figured it would look richer with two. The application of this polish was truly awesome, too! I had no idea Wet n Wild polishes were so nice! 

I wanted to spruce things up a bit, so I peeked through my "nail inspiration" board on Pinterest and found a picture of a glitter gradient much like this one. I used an unnamed The Color Workshop polish that is a really pretty silver holo. It's really thin and spices up just about any manicure. This is my first attempt at trying to do a gradient mani, and I'm actually quite satisfied!

Sally Hansen - Hi-Res

This weekend I tried out a nailpolish I've had in my collection for about a year now, sitting untouched in my stash. This is two coats of Sally Hansen Hi-Res, from the HD collection which was released last spring. This is a bright fuschia pink that almost looks metallic, and has a bit of shimmer which is pretty much unnoticeable. I used one coat of an unnamed Color Workshop holographic glitter to jazz things up a bit. 

This polish is nothing special, and definitely lacks in comparison to the other colors in the collection (which I unfortunately don't own), but it was a good weekend color, nonetheless. I'm already excited for a pastel Easter mani... stay tuned!
