Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser | Review

This little tube has created quite the stir in the beauty world! "Why?" you might ask. Well, there's a couple reasons. For one, it's pretty exciting to see something like this available on the drugstore level; the high-end cosmetic world has plenty of options for "pore-fectors" (e.g. Benefit's Porefessional, Too Faced Primed & Poreless, just to name a couple). And secondly, it's super affordable, ringing in at $5.94 for .67 fl oz.

Baby Skin comes out as a clear gel, and blends translucently on to the skin. The silicone formula applies comfortably and easily. One thing to make very clear: this product does not claim to hide pores entirely, it only claims to "blur" the look of pores, and I think that is a very key statement. I don't feel that this primer completely hides my most visible pore areas (on the sides of my nose, and the skin above the middle of my eyebrows) but it definitely makes them less noticeable.

I know in many of the reviews I read, people complained it made their face very greasy and their makeup slid right off. I've had no such problems. I found this sinks in well and my makeup sticks easily to the product. I don't feel it needs  to be said, but maybe it does - a little goes a long way. You don't need to smother this thickly on the skin, a light coating will do the trick.

The Maybelline Instant Pore Eraser is a nice option for a pore minimizing primer, especially if you're not willing to shell out $30 for Benefit's Porefessional or any other high-end alternative. It didn't completely erase my pores to the degree that higher-end pore minimizing primers have for me, but this product doesn't claim to. I like it and I'll continue to use it! For under $6, you won't be out too much if you want to give it a shot. Maybelline Baby Skin is Glazed Over approved!

  1. Everybody is talking about this babaay! I'm trying to restrain myself from buying it because I don't really have a problem with pores and I tried the Porefessional and didn't like it. If they can come out with a shine erasing primer, that would be a different story! :-)

    1. You really can't turn one way or the other without seeing it somewhere! You're right though, it's definitely not essential for everyone. Hopefully there will be a million versions of Baby Skin, in the same way there are Baby Lips! :)

  6. I've been hearing about this stuff a lot lately, too. It does look like a nice alternative to the higher-end brands. I might have to give it a try!

  7. I think it's great that you're pointing out that it doesn't erase pores. I think people believe something will do one thing that it does not claim. I would like to try this out soon! Have you tried Palladio Herbal Primer? It's a very similar formula.

    1. No kidding - if there was a boneified pore eraser that would make my pores literally invisible.. believe me, I would be all over that!

I haven't tried the Palladio Herbal Primer, but I've heard some whispering about it. Worth it?
