Flowerbomb | Precious Oil

I don't think it's a secret anymore that I absolutely love the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume. You may remember, it's the scent I wore on my wedding day, and it continues to be what I wear only for special occasions like date nights or vacations. Needless to say, I was thrilled when Influenster (not familiar, click here to find out more about this awesome website that will send anyone things for FREE, in exchange for a review!) emailed to say they were sending me one of Flowerbomb's latest products - their Precious Oil.

It has to be said, like any perfume, you might love Flowerbomb as much as I do, or it might not be your cup of tea. It's a warm, floral fragrance with notes of jasmine, orchid, freesia and patchouli. It has a slight muskiness to it, which makes this perfume something I gravitate towards more in the fall and winter. If you've smelled Lancome's La Vie Est Belle or Nude by Rihanna, both are very similar scents.

The newest thing to the Flowerbomb family is the Precious Oil ($75 for 0.68 oz). This product is meant to work with the perfume to prolong the life of the Flowerbomb scent on your skin. You could, of course, just purchase the oil if you prefer just a light perfume scent. Apply the Precious Oil to pulse points, and give yourself a spritz of the perfume wherever you like and you're guaranteed to smell amazing all day long. You need so little of this oil, that even this 0.68 oz bottle will last you quite some time.

This isn't a product I'd typically purchase, but I really do enjoy using this to give me an added boost of Flowerbomb goodness. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're a fan of this perfume, or if you're in the market for a light, floral scent to add to your collection.

You can find Flowerbomb at Sephora, and most department stores.

2 Year Anniversary | What We Wore

Today my husband and I celebrate two years of marriage! Wow - I honestly don't know where the last two years have gone! We have had so much fun together, and I can't wait to see what the years ahead bring us! To celebrate today, I thought I'd share some pictures from our wedding day, and a little bit about something "sweet" that brings me right back to that day.

As we prepared for our big day, I read a tip that I knew I had to try out: buy a new perfume and cologne to wear on your wedding so that the smell always reminds you of that time in your life. Scent is a huge memory trigger and really has the power to transport you back to a time or place.

We did lots of sampling to find the perfect scents for our wedding day and here is what we chose.

Jake chose Chanel Allure Homme as his new wedding day cologne. I absolutely love this cologne, and it smells so classy and formal for a big event like a wedding. The top notes are a mix of "green freshness, warm sharpness of pepper, strength and elegance of wood, and warm sensuality of labdanum, and tonka." (source)

This cologne has a warm, earthy freshness with a hint of musk. The lasting power is great - you can smell it even at the end of the day.

For my perfume, I chose Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. Flowerbomb is a well-loved scent, characterized by green tea and bergamot, and floral scents like orchid, jasmine, freesia and rose. It's a rather powdery floral scent. I think this perfume is classic and feminine - an absolutely perfect bridal scent.

I would suggest all future brides & grooms pick a new scent for your wedding day, and keep those scents just for special occasions. Jake and I wear Allure Homme and Flowerbomb on our anniversary, Christmas, date nights... any day we find special. Each time I spray on Flowerbomb, I'm transported to the happiest weekend of my life, warm nights in Barbados (where we honeymooned), and a feeling of utter happiness.

What perfume did you wear on your wedding day? I LOVE knowing what people chose!

Valentine's Day Scents

For me, my favorite way to complete a look for Valentine's Day is to top it all off with a great scent. What could possibly be sexier than smelling like a million bucks on Valentine's Day?

Truth be told, I'm a bit of a perfume-aholic. I'll have to share my collection with all of you lovely folks, but we'll save that for another day. For now, here are my picks for the perfect Valentine's Day fragrance.

  • Reb'l Fleur by Rihanna - This is a really deep, musky scent that takes a confident woman to sport. This perfume has base notes of amber, musk, vanilla and patchouli with floral and fruity mid and top notes. You need only a couple spritzes of this perfume and you'll smell sultry and seductive all day long. This is a favorite perfume of mine for the colder months.
  • Miss Dior Cherie - This is a true power scent. Whenever I wear it, I not only feel strong and beautiful, but I feel like I can take on anything. This perfume has base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, and amber and fruity/citrus top notes. It's much lighter than Reb'l Fleur and perfect for any woman.
  • Midnight Fantasy by Britney Spears - Shifting gears from the first two perfumes entirely, Midnight Fantasy is very fruity and sweet with an undertone of vanilla. If you're not one for deep scents like the first two, and you tend toward sugary sweet scents, you'll enjoy this. All you ultra-feminine ladies out there, this is for you.
  • Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf - This is one of my all time  favorite perfumes, and the one I'll be wearing on Valentine's Day. This is a nice light, yet complex scent that leans toward floral but has darker hints of patchouli and jasmine. This perfume holds major nostalgia for me, as it's the scent I wore on my wedding day. It always brings my back to my wedding day and my honeymoon which is exactly what I want to remember on this Valentine's Day.

What perfume will you be wearing on Valentine's Day? Let me know in the comments below!
